WEEK #1 “Where do I go from Here?” – this will be the initial session dealing with he hurt, pain, sense of loss, and depression that can creep into our minds in these uncertain times. We will give Biblically based guidance in dealing with those emotions. Give a chance for people to share what they have gone through and hopefully how they have seen God’s hand in all of this. WEEK #2 “Five Loaves and Two Fish…could I get a little help here?” - How God’s provision is always on time for our lives. We need to look around us and see what, and who, he has put around us to provide for our needs. We will share practical advice on where to turn for assistance (i.e. – Unemployment, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Food Banks, etc.), and how to budget what we have. Another great chance for people to share how God has blessed them in this time of hardship. WEEK #3 “What choice do I have?” - A look at how God wants to guide us and watch over us, but also allow us to make decisions on whether to follow him or go it alone. Ps. 32:8 says He will instruct us, but it does not say He will force us, in the way we should go. We will deal with what lies ahead. Are we helpless? Do we have any choice in where we go or is it just where we end up? WEEK #4 “Will I actively plan my search or do I passively plan to settle?” - Proverbs 16:3 says that if we commit to the LORD (not to our families, not to ourselves, but to Him) WHATEVER we do, He will ensure that our plans succeed. · How is an effective job search accomplished? · What does one have to plan for? · Is there a secret to finding the really good jobs? · Are there really only four approaches to finding jobs? · Learn the what, when, why and how of search management. WEEK #5 & #6 “Tale of Two Resumes” - Having two résumés … that doesn’t seem necessary, but it absolutely is to get that next best career job. And each is equally important. The oral résumé is used to super-charge your interviews and it engages more networking help than any other thing you can use. It has a simple structure, but packs a powerful punch. The written résumé can be developed using several different styles, but the résumés having success have a few things in common and stand head and shoulders above the competition.
WEEK #7 “Network News” - “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed.” Proverbs 15:22 In this session you will learn the essence of really good networking and how to do it with great effectiveness. Done right, it is easy, comfortable and generates lifelong results. WEEK #8 & #9 “You mean you actually want me to come in for an Interview? Are you sure?” - The keys to successful interviewing lie in preparation for and then controlling the interview. Most interviewers are not prepared, so it is vitally necessary that job seekers prepare all the more. There is no reason to leave the outcome of an interview totally to chance. WEEK #10 “As iron sharpens iron..” – Practicing your interviewing skills is vital in ensuring your confidence once you are in the actual interview. With so much at stake we want to make sure that we are properly prepared for what we may face in any interview situation.
WEEK #11 “Did you just say I got the job?” - You received a job offer … You’re finished, Right? Not quite. Negotiating your compensation, benefits and conditions of employment is the final step to creating a win/win relationship with your new employer. Most job seekers don’t realize just how much may be negotiable. And even more are not sure how to go about the task of negotiating. Proper negotiations successfully close the job search.
WEEK #12 “Let’s put it ALL together…”- As we put it all together tonight, we’ll hear what has helped job seekers like you. And we’ll hear from a panel of experts who “know the ropes.” Everything is on the table; from résumés, to interviews to follow-up calls to negotiating techniques, and all items in between. We’ll get some varied opinions and have some lively discussion; all with the objective of helping everyone see the total picture.
