Why does my church need money?
Money is a tool. It can be used to bring people to Jesus and to bring blessings to those who already know Christ. Blackshear Place wants to reach Northeast Georgia and the world for Christ. When you give, you are a part of this mission endeavor. You have a part in boys and girls hearing about Jesus, some for the first time, every week through Awana and Bible Fellowship. You have a part in sending a medical mission team to administer life-saving care and the truth of the gospel to the poorest of the poor. You have a part in helping special needs children through respite care and providing hope and help to those so desperate to know if anyone cares. And when you give, you have a part in proclaiming the Good News throughout our region and the world.
Why did I receive giving envelopes?
Giving envelopes are sent to our members for a number of reasons. First, they can serve as a convenient reminder of the many needs and our responsibility, as the Body of Christ, to meet those needs. Second, these envelopes help us keep track of what you give and offer you options for giving over and above the tithe. Third, at the start of the year, Blackshear Place will send you a giving statement showing the impact your family has made for the Kingdom. This can be a great time to celebrate the work God is doing in your life in the matter of financial stewardship.
Why should I tithe and give offerings?
We tithe and give offerings because God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). Everything really belongs to Him. We simply acknowledge that by starting with a 10% gift back to Him that we call a “tithe.” Offerings are anything that we give above the tithe, which expresses our love and gratitude for all that God has done for us. Jesus said, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). If you want to see what men or women truly love, then it will show up in the way they use the resources God has blessed them with.
