ServeStrong02/14/201009:00 am - 12:00 pm ![]() It’s Coming. Have you heard? The Movement Begins February 14 8:00, 9:30 & 11:00 am It’s about expressive evangelism; it’s about showing the love of Jesus and telling people why. A movement with biblical ramifications is launching February 14 in all three morning worship rallies. It’s called “ServeStrong,” and your family can’t miss out. The Movement Intensifies 6:00 pm | 33 Miles In Concert 2010 is all about serving the Lord by serving others. We want to get outside the walls of Blackshear Place to demonstrate in a visible way the love of Jesus for friends, neighbors, and our community; and then, we want to tell them why with a simple explanation of the gospel. It’s called expressive evangelism. To accomplish this, we’ve planned opportunities for serving all year long. The ServeStrong service campaign launches Feb. 14. We are challenging every Bible Fellowship class to emphasize missions and ministry through expressive evangelism projects. Visiting a local Laundromat with rolls of quarters to wash clothes, providing free car washes, free sodas in parks, free mowing and yard clean up, or lunch for construction crews are just some of the ways to serve others. Every class is asked to participate in three ministry projects in 2010. Our goal is to complete the first project before Easter. You can begin praying with your class and discussing projects. A list of suggestions for class projects can be found here. Tracts and other resources will be available for your use with the ServeStrong emphasis. Remember to share Christ with those you serve and invite them to Easter services at Blackshear Place. Our first churchwide opportunity is Feeding the 5,000 Food Distribution Day on Sunday, March 28. Instead of rushing off to lunch, we’re challenging church members to take the afternoon to practice expressive evangelism. Hundreds of Blackshear Place families will become local missionaries as we literally try to feed 5,000 people on one day. It’s as simple as picking up a box of food and delivering it to a family in need in our community. By providing food, we will have an open door to share the love of Jesus with these families and invite them to hear the Good News on Easter. Sprinkled through the Year of Serve are many more opportunities for you and your family to be on mission and practice expressive evangelism. You can read about all the mission opportunities here: missions page. You can look forward to a year of celebration in 2010 as we praise the Lord for what he is able to do through Blackshear Place when we show God’s love and tell people why.
