Is This The End?

The End

Stories of revolution and unrest are making headlines in newspapers and dominating the TV news networks. Even the world of Internet blogging is at a fever pitch. Look at some of these excerpts from blogs I found this week:

…the dominoes in the Middle East may be starting to fall. First it was Tunisia; now it appears to be Egypt, which is under siege by massive demonstrations; soon, it could also be Jordan (where King Abdullah II is seeking to quell demonstrations) and which, it is reported, the government is on the brink of collapse; Yemen, which is experiencing unprecedented demonstrations, could be a possibility; Algeria, which ratings agency Standard & Poor’s say could be next; and Lebanon, leading to Iran. As an Israeli official asserted this past week, “We are living on a volcano!” The Middle East is about to change — significantly! Who can observe all of this and deny God is shaking up things in preparation for end-times fulfillment? And what a shake-up it is! So what is He really doing?

Surely you have been hearing about what is going on right now in the Middle East, but have you considered the import of it all? God is shaking up the entire region — from Libya to Iran — to accomplish His kingdom plan. …it appears that this is all a part of His alignment with end-times prophecy.

But what does God’s Word say? Are current events a part of the end? On Sunday evening, March 6, Dr. Gary Frazier will join us to open God’s Word and teach us how these events fit into God’s plan for the future. The message is simple. God is in control! Join us at 6 pm and hear this exciting message.

See You Sunday,
Pastor Jeff

Reflection and Prayer

11.28.11

I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into “The Pathway to Discipleship: A Yearly Devotion & Prayer Journal.” I contributed a week of devotions to this book, along with about 50 other pastors, teachers, and men of God. The book contains 52 weeks of thought-provoking and powerful devotions designed to help you experience a deeper walk with Jesus. Days 1-4 cover subjects essential along the pathway to discipleship, and Day 5 is for journaling, reflection, and prayer.

This beautiful, leather-bound book makes an attractive, Christ-centered Christmas gift that can be enjoyed all year. Why not pick one up for yourself as well? The book is not available in stores. You can purchase a prayer book for $15 in the Blackshear Place main lobby.

There Is Victory in Jesus

11.16.11

For the next few weeks, I’m giving you a sneak peek into “The Pathway to Discipleship: A Yearly Devotion & Prayer Journal.” I was asked to contribute to this book, along with many other devoted men of God, to help you experience a deeper walk with Jesus. The devotional journal contains 52 weeks of thought-provoking and powerful devotions. Days 1-4 cover subjects essential along the pathway to discipleship, and Day 5 is for journaling, reflection, and prayer.

For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God — through Jesus Christ our Lord! Romans 7:22-25a

Vision Sunday 2012

11.9.11

Vision 2012
This is a big week in the life of Blackshear Place. I believe that God is calling us to do more than we have ever done. To do this, it will require great vision.

Earlier in the year, one of the older members of our church family said to me, “Pastor, please pray for me; I feel like I’m losing my vision.” Loss of vision is a frightening thing! Vision is something we never want to lose.

Sunday: Refresh Prayer Point
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14

Refresh Your Sunday Experience

10.20.11

We have been asking God to do something great during this week of personal revival. Our Bible study, prayers, and fasting are leading us to a corporate call for holiness and righteousness. This Sunday, October 23, will be the celebration time for the work that God has begun in hearts this week. The services with Herb Reavis will give us a chance to worship with other believers who also are seeking personal revival. Will you be ready for this corporate experience?

“But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 2 Peter 1:5-8

Thursday: Refresh Prayer Point
“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:19-25

Wednesday: Refresh Prayer Point
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” – Psalm 1
