We’re Committed
Each year at BPBC, we have a theme—a simple message or cause that defines focus for us. It’s a way to keep our love for Jesus and His Word fresh. For 2011, our theme is “Committed.”
Now, this is more to us than a word or catchy slogan. When we say “Committed,” we don’t mean some half-hearted, namby-pamby assent. We are talking about a passion. When we say “Committed,” we’re talking about becoming like Jesus, “…steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58). It’s perseverance, courage, and covenant-keeping that fuels a passion among God’s people as we strive toward Christ-likeness.
Commitment like this is not nebulous. It’s rooted in the Word of God. It’s really about a devotion to simply do what He has called us to do. For our Blackshear Place family, we’ve tried to simplify this commitment into four simple thoughts. It’s a calling to say, “I’m committed to…”
- Grow Deeper by spending time with God each day.
- Give Bolder by faithfully tithing and giving to Reaching Generation Now.
- Get Louder by sharing my faith and bringing others to Christ.
- Go Further by becoming more missional in my service.
Growing Deeper. Giving Bolder. Getting Louder. Going Further. It’s all about our relationship with Jesus expressed in these four simple statements. The more you love Him, the more in love you become. It’s consuming. And our prayer is that you would be swept away.
